Atherton is one of the most exclusive addresses in the country, a quiet, tree lined town set right in the heart of the Peninsula. There is no downtown and no commercial strip here, and that is by design. Holbrook Palmer Park anchors the town with open lawns, tennis courts, and event spaces, and residents are only minutes from the shops and restaurants of neighboring Menlo Park and Palo Alto.

Getting Around and Nearby

Atherton sits between Interstate 280 and Highway 101, so commutes in either direction are straightforward, and the Caltrain corridor runs close by. For dining, shopping, and nightlife, downtown Menlo Park and Palo Alto’s University and California Avenues are just a short drive away.

Atherton is served by well regarded public schools and is home to Menlo Atherton High School, along with several respected private schools in the surrounding area. For many families, the education options are as much of a draw as the setting itself.
